Chloe Hills, Director

Mrs. Chloe Hills is in her seventh year as the Director of the Plano West Royales Drill Team! She came to Plano West from McMillen High School, where she served as the inaugural Director of the Dazzlers Drill Team and the Fine Arts department chair for several years.

A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, Chloe began her dance studies at Gerami's Dance Academy as a young child. She continued to pursue her dance training throughout her school years, serving her senior year as Captain of the Carencro High School nationally ranked dance team.

After high school, Chloe attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she was a member of the UL Ragin' Jazz dance team for 4 years. Serving as Captain her senior year, she led her team to two UDA national titles in Orlando, Florida. Chloe was involved in numerous activities, and was voted a member of UL Lafayette's 2007 Homecoming Court while achieving her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education. Throughout her college years, she taught dance at the Dance Place Inc. as the Co-Director of the dance studio, leading her competitive elite teams to several national championship titles.

Chloe is thrilled to continue long-lasting traditions associated with the Plano West Royales Drill Team! She feels very blessed to be the director to this talented and hard-working group of ladies. She is very excited about continuing her tradition of excellence in her teams through the Royales for years to come!

Kathy Conklin, Assistant Director

Ms. Conklin is excited about being the Royales Assistant Director and

the opportunity to carry on a tradition of building wonderful women through dance, professionalism, and love. She continues to serve as the team lead for the AP US History team at Plano West and is thrilled to have a career that combines two of her favorite things… dance and history!

Ms. Conklin began her love for dancing in early childhood in Long Island,

before her family moved to Texas. She studied at several different studios in Plano, attending competitions and conventions along the way. Ms. Conklin served as Lieutenant of the Clark Cougarettes and Sergeant of the Plano East Golden Girls.

She attended the University of North Texas, and continued her love of dance by taking classes and by choreographing and dancing with her sisters in Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.  She was very involved in her sorority and PanHellenic community through various leadership roles, including recruitment counselor. She decided that being a teacher would allow her to combine her love of history and her passion for dance. She was inspired to be like her former drill team director, Kelly Cowan. After graduate school at Texas Woman’s University, she worked at John Paul II and Jasper High School, where she had the privilege to spend 9 years as the Assistant Director of the Jasper Jazz drill team.

She loves every aspect of serving drill team, from choreographing, polishing, performing and especially growing the girls into powerful young women! In 2013, Ms. Conklin moved to Plano West to teach AP United States History, but continued as Assistant Director for the Jazz. Through her experiences, she learned the many values of drill team—the life lessons that exceed the football field and spring show stage.  Her favorite styles to choreograph include modern and tap, and she is honored to work with the Royales and helping produce some fabulous performances and shows!
